Nestled in the heart of Gascony, between Bordeaux and Toulouse in France, the Domaine de la Haille has been crafting wines and eaux-de-vie since 1937, under the guidance of three generations. Their approach combines time‑honored tradition with modern techniques, firmly rooted in respect for the terroir and ancestral know-how.
A Legacy Rooted in Gascon Soil
From rolling vineyards planted mostly on clay-limestone hillsides to plots in heavier clay and silt, the estate benefits from diverse soils. This terroir yields powerful, structured wines, with some exhibiting a distinctive mineral character, and supports aromatic grape varieties like Colombard and Gros Manseng—key to their outstanding Armagnacs.
The vineyards are south-facing toward the Pyrenees, enjoying ideal sun exposure under an oceanic climate with relatively low rainfall. Each September, harvests often take place at night to preserve aromatic freshness and avoid rot. The estate is certified HVE Level 4, practicing minimal intervention viticulture, grassing between rows, and low yields to promote vine health.

In the Gers region, a father‑son moment sparked the creation of La Haille’s spirits. Jean‑Luc, observing younger friends reaching for questionable high‑proof spirits of dubious origins, wanted to offer a better alternative: pure, authentic and naturally crafted spirits derived from his own grapes. Thus began years of experimentation, driven by respect for product and well-being, pursuing not just distillation, but capturing conviviality and joy. What began as a private venture evolved into a full range known as La H.
